“The license does not belong to this machine.”

For products:
Webtrends Analytics 9.2a
Webtrends Analytics 8.x
Last modified: 8/6/2010

Situation:

Upon logging into Webtrends, the following message displays:
“The license does not belong to this machine.”

Solution:

This can result from the server name, IP address, or MAC address of the network card changing, often from virtualizing or moving an installation. To correct this, deactivate and reactivate the server.

  1. Open a remote session to the server on which Webtrends is installed.
    2. Open a command prompt and navigate to Webtrends\common\lib.
    3. Type “wtlicman -d” and press Enter to deactivate the current license.
    4. Type “wtlicman -a -k <license>” replacing <license> with your license key, including dashes, and press Enter to activate the license.
    5. Make sure to close and reopen the Webtrends interface. It may also be necessary to restart the services/server if closing and reopening

Why don’t licensed page views roll back when a profile and/or data source is deleted?

For products:
Webtrends Analytics 9.2x
Webtrends Analytics 8.x
Webtrends Enterprise 7.x
Webtrends Professional 7.x
Webtrends Small Business 7.x

Situation:
After deleting profiles and/or data sources in an attempt to recover licensed page views, the collected page view count remains the same.

Solution:
This is the expected behavior. The first time a log file is analyzed the licensed page view count increments in accordance with the number of valid entries it finds. Deletion of a profile and/or data sources does not roll back the licensed page view count for the current anniversary year or any year prior. A log file, once analyzed, can be reanalyzed any number of times without further incrementing the licensed page view count. If, however, the contents of a log file are modified, for example, when “scrubbing” a log of unwanted entries, Webtrends will view it as a new log file and the licensed page view count will increment as it would for any new log file.

What is the difference between collected, licensed and analyzed page views?

For products:
Webtrends On Demand
Webtrends Analytics 9.2x
Webtrends Analytics 8.x

Last modified: 8/3/2010

Introduction:

The definitions of the terms collected page views, licensed page views, and analyzed page views are as follows:

Collected page views are the raw hit count from the log files that are processed.
Licensed page views are the total number of collected page views minus non-page view extensions (.gif;jpg;bmp;png;wbmp;jpeg;css;js;dtd;asmx;ascx).

Analyzed page views are the licensed page views minus the data that is removed by the use of any exclude filters AND those pages that are not defined in the Page File Types.
The majority of the report page views only contain hits from the log file that contain 200-300 return codes. All 400-500 return code page views are only represented in the error reports.

NOTE: From Webtrends On Demand version 8.6 forward, the unit of measurement used for billing and licensing for On Demand will change from “Page Views” to “Server Calls.” This is purely a change in terminology and will have no impact on billing, licensing, or reporting.

You have exceeded your free trial of 1 Page / 1 App on Webtrends Social”

For products:
Webtrends Social

Last modified: 9/16/2011

Situation:
On a Business or Enterprise Webtrends Social account or a Starter account with no published apps, the following error displays when attempting to publish an app:
You have exceeded your free trial of 1 Page / 1 App on Webtrends Social.

Solution:
This error will display when the App Namespace for the app is left blank in the Facebook application settings.  This is easy to spot as the Canvas URL will be “http://apps.facebook.com/<app id>” in the “Basic Settings” for the app on Facebook.
